What an exciting time of year it is. There is an abundance of parties and great food to enjoy. Something I suggest you take a minute to do while in a sugar buzz from Christmas cookies is to think about the nice gifts that were under the tree and how it will affect your insurance coverage. Did someone get a nice piece of jewelry or a new electronic device? These items can be expensive and the base coverage on your homeowners policy might not be enough. Even if you didn’t get a new piece of jewelry it is a good time to look at what you currently have a check the value given the increase in gold and silver prices.
If there was a new motorized toy make sure you add coverage to protect it and have liability coverage. While there might not be enough snow to ride the toys now it is a good time to check you coverage so you will be ready.
Have you taken pictures of you holiday decorations to help you remember all that you have if there was a fire in July when they are stored? Think about packing decorations in plastic bins if they are in the basement so if water backs up through the sewer or sump pump they will have a better chance to survive.
Think about the when and how you put your trash out. You don’t want to advertise to would be thief all the nice new items in the house.
We would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
